    Monthly Meeting: We will be painting/drawing (or the medium of your choice) from a live model. This time we will have a young man named Sam. Please bring your portable easel and whatever materials you would like to use. If you would like to draw flat, you can use the tables in the room. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m in room 107. 
  • October, 2007
    Monthly Meeting: Thursday, October 4th, 7:30 pm at the H.E. Park District: The meeting will be divided into three topics: 
  1. We will discuss how to build/create your art portfolio.
  2. Bring in your current pieces for group critique
  3. Bring in any books or films on art you would like to share with the group as a recommendation. We won't be viewing any DVD's, just recommending them for viewing. You will take your books/DVD's home at the end of the evening unless you have made a personal agreement with someone to loan something.
Special Presentation: Tuesday Oct 9 at 7:00 pm our member Denise Laurin  will be presenting Make a Great Living Creatively for Arts in Bartlett      The talk takes place at a wonderful location: The James Pate Phillips State Park facility which is west on Stearns past 59. There is a beautiful prairie there and a great Frank Lloyd Wright inspired facility where Denise will be giving the presentation.

    Plein Aire painting: Saturday, September 15th;  (or your medium of choice) at South Ridge Lake on Freeman Road (next to the Freeman Road Branch Library) from 8:30 am-12:00 p.m. For directions and more information, please contact Sharron Boxenbaum.Autumn 

    Art Exhibition at the Hoffman Estates Village Hall. The show runs from September 1st-September 29th. The reception will be on Monday, September 17th from 7-9 pm.

    Monthly Meeting
    : September 6th at 7:30: we will be meeting at the Hoffman Estate Park District
    building at 1685 Higgins Road.  Our speaker will be Kevin Finnerty.  He will cover a range of topics
    including giclee, soft pastels, plein aire, and working with the nude figure.  Check out his website at

    Monthly Meeting: Thursday, August 2nd, the Art League meeting will be held at the Schaumburg Public Library at 7:30
    pm in the Adult Learning Room.  We will watch an instructional DVD by the great artist, Patricia
    Moran, who's painting style many have come to admire.  The name of the DVD is "Learn Classic Oil
    Painting".   Patricia demonstrates the tonal method that can be applied to both portraits and
    landscapes.

    There will be no regular meeting in July.  We will have our own art exhibition at Roosevelt University
    in Schaumburg, through the month of July, 2007.  The opening night reception is scheduled for
    Tuesday, July 10, 2007, 6: 00 PM - 9:00 PM.    All artists planning to participate should declare 3-5

  • June, 2007
    A peer critique.  Get painting!  Bring 1-2 works either in progress or complete for comments
    and review.  Bring them covered so we can unveil each one without distraction from another!
    We will also plan our own art exhibition at Roosevelt University in Schaumburg.

    The league will be figure drawing using a live model.  Several quick poses and then a long
    pose.  Please bring your medium of choice to work with, along with paper and a solid board or
    easel.  The model will pose from 7:30-10:00 pm.

    Gallery" it will not be continued.

    Marilyn Reiter  lead a seminar about the internationally recognized painter:  Patricia Moran, and
    her tonal approach to oil painting.  The step-by-step demo sheet, and  handling tones from the
    darkest dark to the lightest light was discussed.
